Carlos Lao is a partner in the Capital Markets practice. He has over 25 years experience advising issuers and underwriters in Spanish and international securities market transactions (144A/Reg. S) including equity, hybrids and debt securities listed on regulated markets and multilateral trading systems (MTFs): IPOs, listings, private placements, securities exchange offers, green bonds, high-yield bonds, securitizations bonds, commercial paper, etc. In addition, he advises on regulatory matters relating to capital markets and securities. During his career, he has also participated in domestic and international project finance transactions, M&A, takeover bids, finance transactions and other corporate finance structures.
Before joining Ramón y Cajal, he worked for several years at the New York and Paris offices of the US international law firm Shearman & Sterling (currently A&O Shearman).
He has been selected as a “Highly Regarded Lawyer” in Capital Markets by the prestigious international directory IFLR 1000 and a “Leading individual” in Capital Markets—Debt by Chambers Global and Chambers Europe.
